The Hita Gion Yamahoko Festival was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. During the festival held on the weekend after July 20th each year, nine gorgeously decorated yamahoko floats parade through the streets of Hita.

Nationally designated Important Tangible Cultural Property. Oita Prefecture's oldest merchant house, operating a wax refining business from 1688 (Genroku 1) until the end of the Meiji era under the trade name Masuya. In the 220-year-old reception room, 178 hina dolls are displayed, with the palatial hina set of 42 dolls being particularly spectacular.

A Hachiman shrine of considerable scale in the prefecture, enshrining Empress Jingu, Emperor Ojin, and Himegami. The gate tower, the oldest structure in the precincts, was built in 1687, while the worship hall, offering hall, and main hall are said to have been constructed in 1794.

Shounzan Chofukuji is a temple of the Shinshu Otani sect (head temple: Higashi Honganji) located in the center of Mameda-machi, Hita City (Traditional Buildings Preservation District). It was founded in 1584 by Souei.

A famous spot known as the Ten Scenes of Gakurinji. Oyama Dam was built on the Akaishi River, a tributary of the Chikugo River. Hita City's Oyama Town is the hometown of manga artist Hajime Isayama, and the downstream plaza features bronze statues of the main characters with the dam wall representing Wall Maria from Attack on Titan, recreating "the place where everything began."
